Nike SNKRS Mobile App Launch Recap – All Star Weekend 2015

It’s with great pride to announce our very first project with Nike. Being on the radar to be commissioned for this project was already something that deeply moved me as the Swoosh is a brand that we have been wanting to work with since the birth of our small, but effective, digital agency.

A few weeks before All Star weekend, I was contacted by a former client who has hired us for another footwear brand in previous years. We quickly caught up over text and he eventually told me about the project and asked if we were interested. That was a no-brainer. I sent him a link to our reel and soon enough, we were officially commissioned to produce the video for Nike. The downside to this was that I myself, was going to be out-of-town during the activations which meant I could not be in the market to execute. After years of working on a consulting basis for other agencies, I felt comfortable enough to have our Director of Digital Film be positioned on the client-facing side for this project as I would not be in town. Sure enough, Joe Cavallini met with the client and their team and I must say that I was very happy and proud of how Joe handled the clients.

During the unbearable winter conditions of All Star weekend 2015, Nike unveiled their latest mobile app – SNKRS. Multiple experiential activations took place throughout New York City during the launch of the app along with the releases of highly sought after sneakers that Nike was releasing during the weekend. To say that the weather made shooting conditions difficult is an understatement. We saw the most brutal winter conditions of the season during All Star weekend but we overcame the harsh elements of our environments and successfully finished the shoots.

Post production was pretty smooth in terms of working with another agency. Motion graphics assets were handed off to us by the client and incorporated into the edit. While the original track that was provided to us was great, it was unfortunately unusable as the licensing for it was never purchased by the client. Joe took to his resources and reached out to a couple friends that produced original music which we eventually decided to use for this edit. After a number of revisions we had finally come to a final edit which is what is bestowed upon you. Make sure to check out the video and download the app!
